Naalehu Elementary and Intermediate School is located in the Hawaiian Islands on the island of Hawaii also known as "The Big Island". Naalehu Elementary was built in 1928, has an attendance area extending from Manuka Park to Hilea. Naalehu School services Pre K to seventh grade.

The area is known for its mountainous and rugged terrain and for its beautiful lush green valleys at the foot of Mauna Loa. The community is interested in preserving the rural lifestyle and the rich and aesthetic environment they presently enjoy.

Our community is ethnically diverse. In Naalehu, Hawaiians and part-Hawaiians account for 43% of the population, followed by Filipinos at 30%, Caucasians 26%, Japanese at 14% and all other races 5%. Recent newcomers have been Spanish speaking families from Central America, as well as a students from Micronesia.

Naalehu School, in the district of Ka'u, is located in the southernmost town in the United States about twelve miles from Ka Lae or South Point on the Big Island of Hawaii.
